HERACLES Group and Pieris.Architects create “the SPOT”
HERACLES Group announces its pro bono partnership with Pieris.Architects for the design of “the SPOT” – a state-of-the-art and sustainable building
True to its commitment to leading the transition to sustainable construction and a more sustainable future for all, HERACLES Group is entering into a pro bono collaboration with Pieris.Architects for the creation of “the SPOT” (Sustainable Practices of Tomorrow), a state-of-the-art and energy-efficient building at the Campus of Patras’ University , in Rio. The aim of this innovative project is to promote sustainable practices through, both, the construction of the building itself and the development of business ideas by the students of the University.
Specifically, the collaboration of HERACLES Group with Pieris.Architects for the architectural design of this cutting-edge building is based on their common vision for innovative and climate neutral constructions that nurture the principles of circular economy. It is worth mentioning that Pieris.Architects, who have won major awards in international Architecture competitions, have been designing sustainable buildings that harmoniously integrate into the environment and promote “well-being” and “eco-emotional intelligence”, for 20 years.
“the SPOT” is the Building of Tomorrow that will be designed, constructed and commissioned aiming at the minimal environmental footprint during its life cycle. Driven by the principles of circular economy, innovative and recyclable low-carbon and energy-saving building materials will be used for the construction of the project. ”the SPOT” constitutes the first building in Greece where 3D concrete printing technology will be applied on a real scale.
This pioneering project will provide the students of Patras’ University with the possibility of osmosis between their research and innovative entrepreneurship; thus, contributing to strengthening the domestic start-up ecosystem and fostering the appropriate infrastructure for young scientists to develop innovative business ideas.
