HERACLES Group was awarded as "CSR Team of the Year" at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2022
The company was presented three awards for its multifaceted contribution to every key sector of Greek society and the environment.
Receiving three awards at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2022, HERACLES Group stood out for its actions that promote Responsible Entrepreneurship and invest in Sustainable Development.
Specifically, HERACLES Group was awarded with the Gold Award in the "CSR Team of the Year" category for its multifaceted Corporate Social Responsibility Programm "One more feat", the Silver Award for the "Bee Our Hero" Support and Awareness-raising Program in the "Emergency Response" category, and the Bronze Award for its initiatives regarding the protection of water resources in the "Natural Resources Management" category.
On the occasion of its 110th anniversary and driven by its commitment to laying the foundations for a more sustainable today and a better tomorrow, HERACLES Group designed and is implementing the comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme “One more feat”. The aim of the programme is to further strengthen society, protect the environment, support young people, care for socially vulnerable groups, contribute to public health and empower local communities. In this context, the Group implemented 14 actions with beneficiaries at local and national level. The initiatives of the "One more feat” programme include the support of the Hellenic Paralympic Team and the Hellenic Paralympic Committee for 2021-2024, upgrading the infrastructure and meeting urgent needs of 34 Special Schools in areas of Greece where the company is present and the donation of specialized medical equipment to public health facilities in Magnesia and Evia.
Furthermore, true to its commitment to contribute directly and substantially to the real needs of local communities, HERACLES Group created a special awareness-raising and support programme called "Bee Our Hero” for the beekeepers and bees of Northern Evia affected by the 2021 forest fires. As part of the programme, the Group offered 150 tonnes of bee feed, fully meeting the feeding needs of 500 million bees for 8 months. Meanwhile, it actively supported over 300 professional beekeepers enabling them to continue their activity, contributing to the sector’s sustainable recovery and rapid growth.
Moreover, recognizing the challenges of climate change, HERACLES Group is constantly improving its water footprint, by installing modern seawater desalination units at the Milaki plant in Evia and the pumice quarry on the island of Giali. Furthermore, by applying the principles of industrial symbiosis, the Group utilizes wastewater from a neighbouring industrial plant, thus significantly limiting the use of water from other sources.
