HERACLES Group at the helm of decarbonisation with a dedicated event at the Technical Chamber of Magnesia

HERACLES Group organised an evening event at the Auditorium of the Technical Chamber of Magnesia in Volos, on the subject: “The Transition to Net Zero Carbon.” 


The opening of the meeting was greeted by the President of the Technical Chamber of Magnesia, Mrs. N. Kapoula, while the event was attended by representatives of the Region of Thessaly, the University of Thessaly and the local authorities. 


The topics discussed were addressed to engineers, researchers and students and concerned, on the one hand, the challenges and opportunities offered for the climate and the environment by modern greenhouse gas capture technologies and, on the other hand, the initiatives of HERACLES Group in the same field.


In the context of the event, representatives of reputable scientific institutions, as well as Greek and foreign research institutes, presented results and conclusions of research projects in which HERACLES Group participated. Reference was made to the research project “AURORA” – Accelerated Deployment of Integrated CCUS Chains Based on Solvent Capture Technology – in which HERACLES Group participates with the installation and operation of a pilot CO2 capture unit at the cement plant in Agria, Volos.
During the event, special mention was made of the iconic “OLYMPUS” project on the greening of HERACLES Group's cement plant in Milaki, Evia, in order to become a net-zero carbon plant.
