With the vision of leading growth and prosperity for society, the national economy and the green development of the country, through its people, investment plan, solutions and facilities, HERACLES Group inaugurated the new ready-mix concrete plant in Heraklion, Crete, on Tuesday, May 28.

It is a state-of-the-art plant intended to meet the needs of the Prefecture, offering value-added solutions across all applications in the construction sector that combine innovation and sustainability, such as the “green” ECOPact concrete series with a low carbon footprint.

The Minister of State, Mr. Akis Skertsos, visited the new HERACLES Group plant in the Industrial Area of Heraklion, noting that it “fuels growth in Crete, in the construction sector and beyond”, while adding that “this new plant will gradually have an increasingly smaller carbon footprint, thus enabling us to support employment and businesses, as well as supporting the green transition of the island of Crete to the new era”.

The inauguration event was attended by the Regional Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis, the Deputy Minister of Development, Maximos Senetakis, the MP of Heraklion, Konstantinos Kefalogiannis, the Mayor of Malevizi, Menelaos Bokeas, local bodies, officials and distinguished businesspeople, while the inauguration was blessed by the Archbishop of Crete, Evgenios.

In his address, the Deputy Minister of Development, Mr. Maximos Senetakis, stated: “HERACLES Group is constantly innovating and implementing what we, at the Ministry of Development, point out to all businesses: Innovation everywhere! In this manner, it is becoming a role model to be followed by other larger or smaller companies that wish to grow,” while adding that "We want patents, innovative products made in Greece and cutting-edge services. We want our talents to stay here and to gain back those who have left. We want everyone to believe that Greece has turned a page. Warm congratulations to HERACLES Group for believing in the new Greece we are creating and proving it through its actions and plants.”

During the ceremony, the Regional Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis, also addressed the event, stating: “We, at the Region of Crete, having implemented hundreds of technical projects and having signed dozens of contracts for road construction and environmental projects, are looking forward with more optimism and confidence. The inauguration of a new industrial plant in Heraklion signals the fact that Crete can become a driver of growth with a focus on infrastructure and public works. I wish every success to this new beginning of HERACLES Group. To the Management and, of course, to all employees.”

Mr. Dimitris Hanis, HERACLES Group CEO, stated: "Today is a milestone for us, as we are inaugurating a state-of-the-art ready-mix concrete plant in Crete, which is on an ambitious development path with sustainable and important projects under way. With sustainability at the heart of its activity, HERACLES Group has built the new plant meeting the highest standards for the protection of the environment. Suffices to say that the new plant meets the requirements of European and international standards and has an energy and water saving system in place. It has water recycling and rainwater collection tanks, which allow the use of water both in the production process as well as in other operations of the plant. In addition, an electric vehicle charging station has been installed in the area, as the Group is at the forefront and encourages the national effort for the transition to e-mobility in every way
