HERACLES Group reduces its energy footprint installing PV parks at its plants
HERACLES Group proceeds to the installation of photovoltaic parks for self-generation and self-consumption of electricity at its two plants, in Volos and Milaki, Evia. This initiative is intended to considerably reduce the Group's environmental footprint and contributes to the national energy-saving effort through the higher penetration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in the country's energy mix.
The investment consists in the installation and operation of photovoltaic systems, with a total capacity of 10.2 MW over an area of 118 acres, aiming to generate approximately 14,000 MWh, which correspond to the needs of approximately 3500 households. The design, planning, supply and installation of the materials, as well as the construction of the photovoltaic parks have been undertaken by Terna Energy S.A.
It is one of the first RES installations in the country for high voltage without energy offsetting, which will meet 5% of the Group's annual electricity needs as of January 2025, while improving the quality of electrical power.
Mr. Dimitris Chanis, HERACLES Group CEO, stated: “Upkeeping the highest standards of environmental protection, by means of this initiative we contribute to the national effort for the development of RES. We pursue the implementation of our investment program committed to our strategy to lead the transition to innovative and sustainable construction.”
