HERACLES Group: New strategic investment in the Recycling sector with the acquisition of W.A.T.T. RECYCLING

HERACLES Group, a member of Holcim, has agreed to acquire 100% of W.A.T.T. RECYCLING.

W.A.T.T. RECYCLING is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic companies in the recycling sector, offering a wide range of integrated and technologically advanced solutions for optimal solid waste management. It is a member of W.A.T.T. Group, a leader in the field of waste management and recycling, with a 35-year track record of advancing a more environmentally sustainable future for humankind.

With this acquisition, HERACLES Group incorporates two state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) in Fyli and Koropi, Attica, with a processing capacity of over 150,000 tons of municipal waste annually. These state-of-the-art facilities operate in accordance with the latest international standards, achieving the recovery of recyclable materials such as paper, plastics, metals, as well as the production of secondary fuels.

By incorporating this business into its portfolio, HERACLES Group will offer an integrated solution for solid waste management, minimizing the quantity sent to landfill and offering multiple benefits both for the environment and local communities. It will combine both W.A.T.T. RECYCLING's expertise in recycling packaging waste and Holcim's expertise in the management of bulk waste and construction demolition materials, creating a local leader in the circular economy, applying the principles of "reduce, recycle and regenerate" across our business. Circularity is at the core of everything we do and is a key driver of our net-zero journey.

Mr. Dimitris Chanis, HERACLES Group CEO, stated: “The New Year begins with a strategic investment, which marks the entry of HERACLES Group into the recycling sector. Circular economy is a crucial pillar of our Group's strategy and the acquisition of W.A.T.T strengthens our company's dynamic course. We remain committed to contributing through our investments to the country’s economic growth and social development, driven by our purpose to build progress for people and the planet.".
