HERACLES Group powers up new
solar station at Volos Plant
5 million kWh of clean energy annually – 1,400 tons less CO₂
HERACLES Group, a member of Holcim, puts clean energy into action with the launch of a new 3.7 MW photovoltaic station at its Volos Plant, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to sustainable development and climate action.
The solar system—installed across the rooftops of three buildings—includes 6,500 advanced panels and is expected to generate 5 million kWh of renewable electricity per year for the plant’s own consumption. This investment of €3 million will contribute to a reduction of approximately 1,400 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, marking a significant step forward in decarbonizing operations.
This project is part of a wider €9 million renewable energy plan that HERACLES Group is implementing across its sites, supporting both its environmental goals and Greece’s broader energy transition.
“We are scaling up our sustainability efforts with smart investments in technologies and projects that protect the environment and support Greece’s energy transition,” said Vasilis Katerelos, Sustainability Director at HERACLES Group. “We remain committed to leading the way toward innovative and sustainable construction.”
