HERACLES Group: 3 years of innovation and dynamic presence in the major construction milestones of The Ellinikon
Completing three years of successful and creative presence at its facilities within the Metropolitan Pole of Hellinikon - Agios Kosmas, HERACLES Group, a member of Holcim, confirms its role as a reliable strategic partner for the country's major infrastructure projects.
Tangibly supporting Lamda Development's vision for a "green and smart city", the Group actively participates in the project, having supplied 550,000 cubic meters of high-specification, low-carbon footprint ready-mix concrete since July 2023, covering approximately 70% of the project's needs.
The dynamic participation of HERACLES Group in The Ellinikon projects highlights its readiness to successfully meet the highest and most technically demanding construction challenges. The Group’s strong presence extends from major Infrastructure works and the Integrated Resort Complex (IRC) to the iconic Riviera Tower, Park Rise, the new Sports Facilities (The Ellinikon Sports Park), and the Care Center for People with Disabilities.
To service the project, the Group installed the world's 1st ready-mix concrete production plant with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) inside the construction site, with a capacity of 220 m³/h. The plant minimizes the environmental impact of the production process through 100% water recycling and 25% energy savings during its operation.
The Group's presence in the project is linked to some of the most important and demanding construction milestones of recent years:
- The Groundbreaking Foundation of the Riviera Tower: In the country's first green residential skyscraper, the largest continuous concreting in Greece took place, where 7,500 m³ of ECOPact low-carbon concrete were poured over 40 hours of continuous flow. These solutions, combined with the ultra-high strength concrete DYNAMax, support the Riviera Tower in achieving the top sustainable LEED certification.
- The High-Demand Foundation of the IRC: The completion of the Integrated Resort Complex foundation was a unique achievement. Using the raft foundation method, a total of 11,500 cubic meters of concrete were poured (in two phases of 5,500 m³ and 6,000 m³ respectively).
- Undergrounding of Poseidonos Avenue: In this strategic 1.5 km long infrastructure project — one of the most modern tunnels in Europe — the Group continues to supply the project uninterruptedly with high-performance "green" solutions, ensuring maximum structural durability and sustainability.
Participation in The Ellinikon projects certifies the continuous growth recorded by HERACLES Group in the ready-mix concrete sector. Within a five-year period, the scale of activity has evolved as follows:
- Tripling of Sales: Sales volume increased from 600,000 m³ in 2021 to 1,761,000 m³ in 2025.
- Network Expansion: From just 14 production plants in 2021, the Group now operates a nationwide network of 45 plants.
- Leadership in Low Environmental Footprint Solutions: The Group now holds Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for more than 120 concrete products. The innovative "green" concrete line ECOPact, with CO₂ emissions reduced by up to 30%, grew to represent more than 30% of total concrete sales in 2025.
- Digitalization: The Group equips construction sites with smart digital tools, such as Holcim SMARTCast, SMARTFlow, and SMARTherm, providing builders with real-time data on concrete performance and behavior.
- Green Fleet: At The Ellinikon, the first fleet of 100% electric concrete mixer trucks in the country is utilized, eliminating emissions during transport and operation.
Responding to the challenges of climate change, HERACLES Group redefines the production of building materials, transforming concrete from a traditional material into a driver of sustainable development:
- Carbon Footprint Reduction: Through the use of industrial by-products, alternative fuels, and raw materials, the Group achieves a reduction in its carbon footprint without any degradation of the concrete's technical characteristics.
- Circularity in Construction: Production integrates the principles of the circular economy, utilizing recycled aggregates from construction and demolition waste (CDW), thereby reducing reliance on natural resources and landfill disposal.
- Responsible Resource Management: All production plants operate with closed-loop water systems, eliminating the waste of this precious resource, while the gradual transition to Renewable Energy Sources (RES) fortifies the green identity of the supply chain.
HERACLES Group is the strategic partner that guarantees the quality, safety, and durability of tomorrow's constructions. By making sustainability an operational reality in practice, it proves that climate neutrality, the circular economy, and economic growth can and must go hand in road.
