Geocycle Hellas, a member of the HERACLES Group, introduces its first electric waste collection truck at Athens International Airport
Geocycle Hellas, a member of HERACLES Group, adds the first electric waste collection truck to its fleet, reaffirming its leading role in sustainable waste management and circular practices in Greece.
The new vehicle plays a strategic role within the framework of the Geocycle–PERME contract for the management of non-hazardous solid waste at Athens International Airport, collecting recyclable materials produced daily and transporting them from the airport’s facilities to Geocycle’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Koropi.
With a range of up to 330 kilometers and fast-charging capability from 20% to 80% in just one hour, Geocycle Hellas’ electric truck sets new standards in sustainable urban mobility. Operating with zero emissions and significantly reduced noise levels, it contributes to a greener, quieter, and more efficient operation.
This investment further strengthens the strategic partnership between Geocycle–PERME and Athens International Airport (AIA), supporting the airport’s ambition to reduce emissions from its operations and positioning it as a national benchmark for sustainability.
Lena Belsi, Head of Geocycle Hellas, stated:
“Our first electric waste collection truck marks a strategic step towards more sustainable waste management and paves the way for a new era. Its integration into the ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ Airport project sends a clear message: innovation and green technology can transform everyday life. At HERACLES Group, we systematically invest in solutions that reduce environmental impact and promote circularity, staying firmly committed to our vision of a world without waste.”
