HERACLES Group, a member of Holcim, is Greece's largest producer of cement, aggregates, industrial minerals, and concrete, with over 110 years of service to the Greek market. Operating a network of more than 50 production and commercial sites across Greece, the Group is leading the transformation of the building materials industry toward a lower-carbon future, applying circular economy principles in resource use.
In 2023, HERACLES Group demonstrated its commitment to responsible growth by enhancing local economic and social impact. In the "Priority on Society" report, you will find the key findings of a study conducted with the support of EY Greece’s Climate Change and Sustainable Development Services Department. The report highlights the value created by the Group through its investments in innovative and sustainable initiatives and actions.
Our Contribution to the Economy
Through a network of more than 50 production and commercial facilities across Greece, HERACLES Group continues to contribute to the national economy. For the year 2023, its contribution in added value for the Greek economy was estimated at €406 million, representing 0.20% of the country's total GDP, showing a 77% increase compared to 2020.
Contribution to Employment
The annual contribution of HERACLES Group to employment for the year is estimated at 12,558 jobs, compared to 6,734 in 2020, which corresponds to 0.3% of the country's total employment. The total number of citizens supported by its activities amounts to 32,651. According to the study, for every 1 direct job at HERACLES Group, its activities are estimated to have supported an additional 13 jobs in the broader Greek economy.
Contribution to Society and the Environment
HERACLES Group contributes to Greek society through responsible actions addressing social and environmental issues in the areas where it operates. In this context, the Group actively supports initiatives in the fields of Health, Culture, Education, and Environmental Protection. Additionally, in collaboration with local authorities and organizations, it implements actions in the field of social solidarity.
